Hosiery: Making A Comeback

Hosiery usually sounds like something staid from the 1950s when women were required to wear pantyhose everyday of their life. For Fall 2008, forget your preconceived notions about hosiery and get ready to start coveting stockings. The fall runways were full of models walking in all varieties of hosiery: from opaque tights and black and nude stockings, to textured fishnets and tights. Louis Vuitton and Chanel even came out with stockings complete with their logos on them. So now you can rock the LV or CC on your legs. DSQAURED2 opted for fishnets with their black dresses, while Fendi and Burberry clad all their models in opaque black tights. This trend has some serious advantages. Black stockings and opaque tights are slimming and make everyone’s legs look long. Nude hosiery evens out imperfections in your legs and fishnets always add sex appeal to any outfit. With this trend you can extend the life of your dresses into fall and winter because tights and hosiery are able to provide a little extra warmth to your otherwise bare legs. In addition, this is a great way to add character to any simple black dress. For those girls on a budget, this is the fastest way to update a dress from last season.
